ProPaintball.com in 2009 e considerat cea mai buna pagina te internet in domeniul paintball.

Local paintball pro heads to World Cup

UPDATED FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12 2007
Justin Rabackoff, 18, of Leesburg, is off to the World Cup Oct. 24 in Orlando, Fla., but not for soccer Rabackoff is going for paintball.
He will be going to the event as captain of his X-Ball team, D.C. Nasty.
The team qualified for the World Cup through its five tournaments during a season that began in March.
In the National X-Ball League (NXL), the top 12 teams earn the honor of attending the World Cup and getting a chance to compete against players from around the world.
Rabackoff has been playing pro paintball for two years now and owes it to his father, who got him interested.
“My dad was big into paintball, so it was already in the family, and I was just sort of brought along into it,” he said. “When I lived in California, I played a lot and when I got into Virginia, my dad started my own team for me.”
That team was D.C. Devastation, a team that moved up from division three to division one before splitting off. After the split, Rabackoff was one of four players, out of the 10, who went pro.
Although Rabackoff is a pro player, he made the step down to division two when he joined D.C. Nasty because the team offered to pay him to play, just like a pro athlete in any other sport.
According to Rabackoff, playing X-Ball is similar to hockey when it comes to the rules. There are penalty boxes, a stop clock and just about everything else related to the rules of hockey.
All members of D.C. Nasty live within two hours of Taneytown, Md., where the team practices.
“There's more experienced players at that field. There's places around here but they don't have as many competitive players so we go to Taneytown to get a good competitive practice in,” Rabackoff said.
Traveling to tournaments and other paintball events means Rabackoff must also miss days at school.
“I've missed five days already and I'm missing another five for this tournament,” the Loudoun County High School senior said.
“I ask for my schoolwork before I leave so I can take it on trips with me, but I'm still getting absences through the school. I do get all my work done and I'm getting straight A's, so I can balance the two.”
When it comes to playing paintball, Rabackoff loves the thrill of winning but also loves the amount of traveling involved.
“I get to go to all of these different places around the nation. I've been everywhere and I just love traveling,” he said. “I love getting up at 4:30 a.m. and getting on a plane to go do what I love.”
On top of traveling, Rabackoff is ready to make the big bucks in the sport.
“My overall goal is to be in the top three. The top three are making six figures, so the money's there in the sport; you just have to go get it.”
